We have also become a member of Surrey Minority Ethnic Forum (SMEF), whose stated mission is to engage and empower minority communities to work together to find solutions to the social and economic challenges they face. As David Baddiel has argued strongly in his pamphlet “Jews Don’t Count”, there is a mindset that Jews are not an ethnic minority community because they are white and generally not economically deprived. Our membership of SMEF counters this.
