The artwork has been created in celebration of the synagogue’s 55th anniversary and dedicated by Rabbi Kath Vardi on 10th December 2023.
The inspiration is to show our full diversity, speaking to the NWSS Vision of being a caring and inclusive Jewish community engaged in building a better world.
The setting at dusk, with the moon appearing and stars in the sky, indicates the evening start of festivals. The menorah is central to the design, as the strong symbol of our religion. The dove, a traditional peace symbol, indicates our wish for peace and inclusivity linked together. The rainbow colours, shown in the branch in the dove’s mouth, are representative of the widest make-up of the community.
